Founder Terry Ceraso, our Main Street Manager and three QA! board members ride in our carriage during the Quakertown Sesquicentennial ParadeQuakertown Alive! (QA!) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community development Main Street organization based on the 4-point approach developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Founded in 1998 and certified in 1999, our mission is to create strong broad-based partnerships that provide the leadership and resources necessary for a successful revitalization effort in downtown Quakertown, PA, resulting in an enhanced quality of life for all in and around the Borough. Volunteers are at the core of our activities which are managed through our standing committees. The Design Committee provides Former Main Street Manager, Jeremy Wells (center) presents awards to Past Presidents Lynda Ulrich and Doug Mohreducation, design/planning advice, and motivation to help maintain and enhance the physical aesthetics of downtown Quakertown as a place that is attractive to shoppers, investors, and business owners. The Economic Restructuring Committee identifies economic development strategies for downtown Quakertown, performs market research, promotes QA! Open House At Train Stationnew uses for historic commercial buildings, and encourages investment in downtown properties and businesses. The Events Committee’s focus is on creating, planning, and implementing events that promote downtown Quakertown. Currently there are three events: Arts Alive, an arts and crafts festival that happens in May, Autumn Alive, a heritage-themed festival that happens in October, and a holiday tree lighting in December. The Organization Committee promotes the health of the organization through communications, fund-raising, strategic planning and volunteer-recruitment. The Quakertown Properties of Merit Comittee promotes the efforts of residents and/or property owners in maintaining and enhancing the appearance of their properties. They nominate the best each year, conduct an election of the people's choice through an area newspaper and host a reception to reward the nominees in October, in keeping with the state supported Properties of Merit Program operating out of Allentown.
